RACIAL UNITY

DONT TALK ABOUT IT / BE ABOUT IT

SHE...
she came on tip-toe
whispering of wants
and desires
she claimed that
my soul needed to be
set afire...
she saw my destiny
and spoke to inspire me...
she dug down deep...
and pulled the
poet up
out of me...
she moved with such
rhythm and grace...
she moved through
time and space...
until she came face to face
with that place
that hid the dancer in me...
she reached in
and set it free...
she looked hard and long
until she found my song...
floating there
in my heart,
stifled by fear...
it never had a chance
to start...
she helped me to
hear it ...
and taught me
to sing it ...
just for me...
much to my surprise
she looked
right past my eyes
she sorted truth from lies,
penetrated my disguise...,
tore down the walls
I had built to
shield me from my
shame and guilt...
and found ...
my name...
and loudly proclaimed
it was time to
toss these things
and reclaim the
the lover in me...
this , too,
she set free...
she said that
there was
no one else
quite
like
me...
and that
if
no one else
would love me
then
I must
love .....
myself

I asked
her name ...
as she
set me free...
she answered...
